The ITIJ Awards are inclusive for every provider offering a service to the travelling public that makes use of their travel insurance policy – from the actuary and underwriter, to the seller, claims teams, software innovators, assistance companies and air ambulance operators. We recognise that without every single company in the chain of services helping travellers when they need it most, insurers wouldn’t be able to keep the promises made in their policies, and that’s why we make sure that each year, we adapt and amend our categories to make sure we are reflecting the changes felt in the industry over the last 12 months.
Without doubt, the impact of technology has continued to shake up the way insurers and assistance providers offer their services, changing the way they interact with customers and clients around the world.
What are the categories?
Travel & Health Insurer of the Year
This award is open to underwriters and insurers selling their own travel and international health insurance policies. The award recognises the companies that have updated their policies in line with changing customer needs, expectations and demands. Show us how you are moving with the times and demonstrating flexibility and awareness of how policies can cover policyholders effectively while also mitigating risk and rising medical costs.
Assistance Company of the Year
This award is open to medical and security assistance providers. If your company provides services to insurers, private clients, NGOs or charities, then this is your category. What changes have you made to your services in the past 12 months that mean you’re enhancing what you can offer your clients, whether it’s widening the scope of your medical network, introducing new technologies or opening new alarm centres?
Air Ambulance Company of the Year
This award is open to companies that own and operate their own air ambulance fleet. The award rewards the companies that have shown resilience to market pressures, demonstrated innovation in the face of adversity, and risen above the challenges Covid presented to maintain the quality of services provided to the international travel and health insurance sector.
International Intermediary/Affinity Partner of the Year
This award is open to insurance brokers/intermediaries and affinity partners of travel insurers. Such partners offer a key distribution channel to insurers and are a vital link to customers around the world. They are relied upon by policyholders to provide accurate information about the policies they sell, and enhance brand awareness for travel insurance partners.
International Medical Provider of the Year
This award is open to hospitals/clinics, ground medical transport providers, telemedicine and second medical opinion service providers who provide their services to international travel and health insurers, private clients, NGOs and charities. High-quality medical services provided at reasonable costs are vital for international travellers and their insurers, and this award recognises the companies that are offering this service.
Travel Insurance Product Innovation of the Year
Companies around the world have been bringing new products to the market to keep up with the constantly changing demands of travel insurance customers. How have assistance companies stepped up their games to meet the needs of travellers in this post-pandemic world, and enhanced the services insurers are able to promise? This is the place to brag about why your product is now better than what else is on the market. Stand out from the crowd and be counted for your service offering.
Outstanding Industry Contribution of the Year
Open to all companies operating in the sphere of travel insurance policy delivery, international healthcare and medical assistance provision, including legal services, funeral services, and insurtech firms. Whether your company has offered a new parametric add-on to an insurer’s standard travel policy, or are offering an innovative mental health support service to the industry, we want to reward your innovation and efforts.
