Hospital Profile: Cook Children’s Hospital
Where dedication and innovation are meeting the special needs of children with complex medical problems
For over 100 years, Cook Children’s has been committed to providing children with the best quality medical care. Recent national recognition of the exceptional care provided in pediatric Neurology, Endocrinology, Pulmonology, Cardiology and Cancer care highlights the unique breadth of services offered.
The Cook Children’s team is hyperfocused on collaboration, improved outcomes, and breakthrough research, shaping the future of paediatric care.
Advanced neurological care
Cook Children's is recognised as having one of the nation's top paediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery programmes. Of special note is the Cerebral Palsy and Movement Disorders Programme, as well as the Comprehensive Epilepsy Programme.
Because neurological conditions usually affect physical and mental abilities in other areas of the body and brain, the neurologists also have very close relationships with other specialties across the system such as Cardiology, Oncology, Genetics, Gastroenterology and Orthopedics.
Innovation in endocrinology
The specialty programmes in Endocrinology include a bone health clinic and a cancer survivorship clinic. Treatment is offered for congenital adrenal hyperplasia, diabetes, hyperinsulinism, cardiac health and growth issues. The Hyperinsulinism Center is proud to be one of six Centres of Excellence in the world.
Expertise in pulmonology
The Cook Children’s team provides expertise in asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleep apnea and other sleep issues, and chronic lung disease of infancy (CLD) or bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD).
