UAE travel insurance demand rises amid a changing market
Customers are primarily seeking cover for trips to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and the US
United Arab Emirates insurance marketplace Policybazaar.ae has reported that customer enquiries for travel insurance in 2024 have risen by 182% since last year.
The data shows that the increase is driven mostly by travellers aged between 25 and 40, who account for 85% of the enquiries. Meanwhile, the family travellers’ segment is responsible for 60%, making it the largest share of the market.
Policybazaar.ae also pointed out that the top four travel destinations either enquired about or travelled to by UAE residents in 2024 so far have been the US, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.
The minimum average trip length for the enquiries was nine days.
Intense summer heat in the UAE during the onset of summer holidays may be prompting holidaymakers to opt for cooler climates when choosing their summer destination.
Another significant trend is the rise in remote working, particularly among individuals below the age of 40.
As more people blend business and leisure, the demand for comprehensive travel insurance is rising.
Neeraj Gupta, CEO of Policybazaar.ae, concluded: “The rise in travel insurance enquiries reflects a dynamic shift in behaviour and an evolving mindset of travellers who now prioritise safety, preparedness, and the desire for seamless travel experiences.”
