Kazakhstan awards lease for new hospital and medical college
The government of Kazakhstan has awarded a long-term lease on land in the cities of Astana and Almaty for the development of new healthcare facilities
The land, awarded on a 99-year lease to a joint venture of the SRAM & MRAM Group, Big B Corporation, and the KAZIND Medical Group, totals approximately 243 hectares in Astana and 100 hectares in Almaty.
The sites will be used to construct a new medical university, a multi-specialty hospital, and a five-star hotel in the region, with the aim of boosting the economy and healthcare provision in Kazakhstan.
The hospital will have 1,000 beds, while the hotel – intended to support medical tourism and enhance patient experience – will have 500 beds.
According to a report by India’s The Hindu newspaper, the lease is part of a wider plan by the Kazakhstani government to build 19 new hospitals in the country and increase bed capacity by 50%.
