Bon Secours chooses MEDITECH EHR

Bon Secours Health System has selected MEDITECH’s Expanse electronic health record (EHR) to support its clinical transformation project
The company, which is one of the largest providers of private healthcare in Ireland, will implement MEDITECH Expanse across its entire healthcare system – replacing a current mixture of multiple different digital platforms and paper documentation – to establish ‘one integrated healthcare record’.
The implementation of the new EHR platform is part of Bon Secours’ 2025 Strategic Plan, which aims to employ new equipment and technology to enhance clinical care, patient safety, efficiency, and patient experience.
The system will benefit the 300,000 patients that the healthcare provider serves annually. As part of their EHR plan, Bon Secours will implement Expanse Oncology, MEDITECH’s outpatient solution, which provides ‘specialty-specific workflows, decision support, and mobile access to patient data’.
According to Bill Maher, Chief Executive of the Bon Secours Health System Group, the EHR system ‘will change how care is delivered at our five hospitals, including our new hospital in Limerick, due to open in 2025’.
“This will lead to improved clinical decision-making, more efficient and accurate clinical documentation, and an increased level of access to the right information by the right person at the right time,” he added.
MEDITECH partnered with CloudWave earlier this year to support the implementation of a similar EHR system for the UK’s East Cheshire Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts.
